Producer Job Responsibilities
As a news producer, you will play a key role in crafting the weekday morning newscast. Your responsibilities will include:
- Story development and content creation
- Editing video using desktop editing software
- Writing news stories and show teases
- Building graphics for the newscast
- Timing and managing live broadcasts
- Handling breaking news situations in real time
You will also pitch story ideas daily and actively participate in editorial meetings. This is a fast-paced role that requires creativity, organization, and strong decision-making skills.
Who Should Apply? Qualifications & Skills
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following basic qualifications:
- At least five years of newsroom experience in a top 50 market
- Strong writing skills and sound news judgment
- Experience with newsroom software like Dalet and communication tools like Slack
- Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area
- Ability to work flexible hours, including late nights, overnights, and holidays
Preferred qualifications include:
- A degree in Journalism or Communications
- Bilingual skills (a plus but not required)
Salary and Benefits
- Salary Range: $85,700 – $114,800 per year
